Built in the 18th century, Capela do Rebelo earned it's name due to the fact that it belonged to the Rebelo family. In the 19th century, an heiress sold the house and chapel to the City Hall, which is still installed in this building today.
The chapel underwent a restoration process in the 1970s, opening its doors to the public in 1976.
