Bathed by the River Pavia, it is a unique place located outside the central perimeter of the city and an inspiring territory where nature and art meet, contaminate and create unique synergies.

Acquired by Nicolau de Mendonça Falcão do Amaral in the late 18th century, the property has an extension of 10 hectares of green area, decorated with exotic species that dialogue harmoniously with indigenous elements and that reactivate a collective memory of this space. Currently owned by the Municipality of Viseu, Quinta da Cruz reopened to the public in 2014 as a motor for cultural activities with multiple concerns that are manifested in the fields of art, nature and community. It is projected as a "Contemporary Art Center of Viseu", whose valences complement each other in a fruitful relationship that generates new dialogues: from the development of short-term exhibition programs, incentive to artistic creation and the promotion of projects that reflect on the state of the art and its role in contemporary society. The annual schedule materializes in close articulation with the polynuclear infrastructure that characterizes it. Raising awareness, creating and training audiences are part of the strategic objectives of Quinta da Cruz - Centro de Arte Contemporânea de Viseu.
