The Solar do Vinho do Dão was the meeting point for the nine students of the prestigious International Diploma in "Management du Secteur de la Vigne et du Vin," promoted by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), and seven producers from the region: Quinta dos Penassais, Casa Amaro, Quinta da Cerca, Quinta da Vegia, Quinta dos Roques, Quinta do Perdigão, and Quinta dos Monteirinhos.
The students, hailing from France (7), Mexico (1), and Ukraine (1), had the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of the Portuguese wine sector, with a special focus on the unique characteristics of the wines and the Dão region. The visit included knowledge-sharing moments, with a detailed presentation on the work being developed in the region, followed by a personalized tasting session with producers participating in the initiative. According to the planned program, in addition to exploring the Dão, the students also have direct contact with other regions such as Porto & Douro, Alentejo, Península de Setúbal, and Lisbon.
"Hosting future industry specialists is a unique opportunity to strengthen the international reputation of Dão Wines. Besides showcasing the unique characteristics of our territory and our work, we created direct connections with our producers, who shared their vision and the wines that best represent the region. These initiatives are essential to positioning our wines in an increasingly competitive global market", emphasized Arlindo Cunha, president of the Dão Wine Board (CVR Dão).
The OIV, the entity responsible for the program, is an intergovernmental organization that promotes cooperation and coordination of policies among member countries in the vine and wine sector. The "Management du Secteur de la Vigne et du Vin" diploma is globally recognized, equipping participants with comprehensive skills in areas such as winemaking, marketing, legislation, and economic management of the sector. This training aims to prepare students for prominent roles in the global wine industry. With this initiative, the Dão reinforces its role as a reference destination for those seeking quality, tradition, and innovation in the world of wine.
